Evolving Beyond Packaging

Did you know that Google creators Sergey Brin and Larry Page originally named their search engine BackRub? The main reason being, at the time, the engine used backlinks to gauge how important a site was. Today the site still utilizes backlinks, but they are part of a much more complex algorithm to determine a site’s page rank. And with the search engine quickly becoming responsible for organizing a “seemingly infinite amount of information on the web” – Sergey and Larry determined that Google, a play on the mathematical term “googol,” was a much more suitable name.

At TEQ, we are a bit like Google. (How many thermoformers can say that?) In 1994, we were born out of the consolidation of two companies (Robinson Industries, a manufacturer of retail package blisters and Fuzere, a thin gauge thermoformer producing parts for the high-tech Silicon valley industry)– so, at the time, the TekPackaging name and brand made a lot of sense.

Today, however, while we still produce high-quality plastic packaging, we have grown into a company that also offers creative design and engineering, state-of-the-art technology and market leading thermoforming to produce a variety of products for medical, electronic and commercial markets.

In addition to world-class engineering software and all electro servo-driven thermoforming machines – we also have a host of unique qualifications and certifications, including: Class 100,000 and 10,000 clean rooms – ISO 13485:2003 registration – ETO, gamma, steam, and E-beam sterilization compatible materials and designs – cGMP compliant facilities – and a unique partnership with Spartan Design Group (leaders in sterile medical products packaging and standards).

Today, we are no longer known as TekPackaging – but as TEQ Thermoform Engineered Quality. We are thrilled that our name and brand have grown along with us. Take a moment, explore our site, even call our sales team. Learn about how we’ve evolved, and tell us what you think about our new name.
