How do you vet new vendors and suppliers?

When it comes to finding a reliable contractor or service provider for home repairs and odd jobs, more and more people are turning to online review websites like Angie’s List, HomeAdvisor and even Google reviews to find unbiased ratings to help them make decisions about where to invest their hard earned money. But can the same be said when businesses are seeking to establish new vendor and supplier relationships?

It can now.

In a world that previously relied solely on word-of-mouth recommendations, trade shows and web searches, VendOp recently launched a first-of-its-kind platform designed to let professionals share opinions, ratings and reviews on an impressive variety of highly specialized businesses and industrial vendors in 26 core categories – from thermoformers to medical device designers to machining equipment suppliers.

By making it quick and easy for businesses to see current user-generated ratings and reviews on potential vendors and suppliers, VendOp has effectively streamlined the sourcing process, making it far less time consuming and more importantly, significantly less risky.

In addition, according to a recent press release, VendOp has taken steps to tackle what has become a common criticism of review sites and online exchanges for consumer facing products and services – review legitimacy. In fact, “In order to assure the quality of reviews, VendOp requires all users to register using LinkedIn before submitting ratings and reviews data.” And “Every review is vetted by a VendOp team member to ensure the content adheres to its terms of service and community guidelines.”

Here at TEQ we not only plan on relying on VendOp for vetting new vendor and supplier relationships, but we’ve also taken the step of claiming our listing and building out our profile.
